The Year Ahead 2012
For a start 2012 will not be as difficult as 2011!
We will still be influenced by the powerful forces of Uranus and Pluto which are still squared up to one another until 2014. Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn.
This aspect has not been seen for 200 hundred years, and the history of this influence is the Industrial Revolution in the 18th Century and then spreading to the American Revolution, also saw the birth of the London stock exchange.
There will need to be radical changes, we have already seen the riots in London there is unrest. In 2012 there needs to be transformation which is probably long overdue. We need to change the education system, strengthen creativity and output; this in turn will improve stability and global strength. We should concentrate on educating our children in all areas such as computing, design, energy, invention, science and finance.
The world economy should improve in 2012 as this coming year will be less intense than 2011, all of us will need to be adaptable and able to change our plans.
Chinese Astrology
2012 in Chinese astrology starts on the 23rd January and we enter the Year of the Dragon. The star sign associated with the Dragon is Aries and the element is Water. Dragons are dynamic, it’s all about activity and reaction, there is never a dull moment. Sudden flare ups and then quickly extinguished. The stock markets may fluctuate and there could volcanic and seismic activity. Dragons are strong and pragmatic, bold adventurous and determined.
Dates for those born under the sign of the Dragon are:
1916 1928 1940 1952 1964 1976 1988 and 2000.

Last week I travelled to London for my regular astrology slot on the Steve Wright Show BBC Radio 2, what fun to do - I really enjoy it. When writing the horoscopes for the week ahead I always look at the planetary movements and their aspects. Mars has moved into Leo and stays until November. This is the planet of action, determination and courage, so Leo don’t be put off by any obstacles put in your way. You are not a sign that lacks courage, so believe that you can achieve anything you wish for.
We still have a Pluto and Uranus square. These two generational planets are really facing each other off. Pluto is also square to Venus, the Sun and in opposition to the Moon, something’s afoot up there and changing so much of our world.
I feel that Pluto rattles the core of establishment. It’s sitting in Capricorn the sign of structure duty and discipline. Uranus asks us to awaken our sub-conscious minds, forcing us to look at issues that we would rather not recognize – it’s sitting in Aries the go-getter and leader. It’s very easy to sweep what we don’t like under the carpet, or bury our heads in the sand, but there is no doubt that our country needs to make major changes and not just financial cut backs.
There is no doubt we live in a material and consumer world, we are a throw away society which in my view is unsustainable, a lesson from our forefathers in thrift and values wouldn’t go amiss. We have our children to think of and their future. We are their teachers and pass on to them our own beliefs and values. They inherit from us the backbone and a moral code of conduct of how to live their lives and interact and treat others, this teaching will be with them for life. Surely we have a duty to pass this on?
It’s hard to change old ways and the task ahead is extremely difficult not just for those who are running the country - but this recession ripples down through every local authority, our NHS, our public services straight into each of our individual lives and homes. I have not yet met one single person who has not been affected by our country’s state of affairs and the level of incompetence of our previous government’s administration over the past ten years.
As a society we have become fragmented, the family, home and education have all suffered. I look at the Tarot cards and see the Hierophant card, the Pope in old fashioned cards - steeped in traditions, beliefs and doctrine. Asking us to have faith and hold onto our Christian beliefs, and live our lives to a high moral standard. These cards have been around for hundreds of years and yet still they can influence us today. Perhaps we should retain the traditions that keep society just and fair? Look within ourselves and how we conduct our lives? Maybe the changes need to come from the essence of our lives the family and home?
Teaching our children to communicate, play and be creative, to value themselves and others, allowing them to stretch their minds and explore this wonderful earth. I believe for us to make the changes it starts quite simply from a spiritual level, exploring our faith and belief systems and enjoying simple pleasures, not by having the best and most expensive trainers in school. Education and up bringing is where this begins.
For all, The Hermit card in Tarot speaks to us of spiritual growth, not chasing materialistic and meaningless things, to turn away from the ‘getting and spending’ frame of mind. To free ourselves from ’keeping up with the Joneses’, happiness and contentment will be short lived and not bring satisfaction. We need to search at a deeper level and use reflection and meditation to gain spiritual awareness and learning, we need to slow down our lives.
Time is our most valuable commodity we must all treasure it and make the most of every minute, hour and day. Time is also the greatest healer and from a spiritual point of view this would be a great starting point and is maybe what we, our country and this Mother Earth most need, let’s hope we haven’t left it too late.
They say there’s no gain without pain! Not a particularly nice saying but true we are all have to cut our coat according to the cloth, the planets are grumbling and the change needs to start happening now.
Welcome to my blog – an astrological look at the planets placements and star signs.
Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn are squared up with each other, this causes disruption, chaos and ultimately change. We are a Capricorn nation, establishment, government, discipline and tradition is at our very core. With Pluto The Renewer in place in this sign representing power, regeneration, re-birth and the unconscious mind in direct conflict with Uranus - The Awakener representing rebellion, non-conformity and liberation it’s hardly surprising in the last few weeks we have seen extraordinary scenes in this country of ours.
The establishment is being rocked and many will believe that this is important for us and our country to move on and evolve. There is no doubt that things need to change and a deeper look at our traditions, society, family life and values will make us re-think - hopefully bringing back growth, peace and harmony.
There is a lovely conjunction between the Sun, Venus, and Mercury in Leo, good for love and relationships. Although with Mercury retrograde, delays in travel plans, misunderstandings and missed messages may occur causing some confusion and frustration. So be careful Leo and don’t give out mixed messages!
Saturn sitting in Libra in opposition to Uranus and square to Pluto - something big is going to happen that may cause you upheaval. It’s all about change - so sit tight and try not to feel too restricted, view obstacles as challenges and stability will return soon.
Aries you really are having an interesting time with Uranus in opposition to the Sun, Mercury and Venus, a good time to shut the door and keep your own counsel. You may have to view your future plans in a different light.
Jupiter in Taurus in the 7thHouse - wonderful for relationships and love, if your not in love at this time, you are about to meet someone very special.
